(07231) 28-6328Patrick Kraus is Professor of Management Control at Pforzheim University. He studied Management Control at Pforzheim University and did his PhD at the University of Chester in the UK. In his PhD research, he explored the sustainability management approach of SMEs. His research areas include Sustainable Development, CSR, Management Control and Digital Transformation, especially in the context of SMEs. He also serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Organizational Analysis and is a member of the Editorial Review Board at the Journal of Global Responsibility.
Prior to returning to Pforzheim University, Patrick Kraus has worked as a consultant in the field of controlling at KPMG Germany and most recently led the finance department at USU Software AG for three years. By doing so, he especially focused on developing the corporate controlling function. A major focus of his practical work has been on introducing and developing a corporate planning tool, as well as a reporting system.
The teaching areas of Patrick Kraus mainly include Management Control, Corporate Planning and Cost Accounting/Management. Since 2010, Patrick Kraus is also involved in research regarding sustainability issues, especially in the context of SMEs, resulting in papers published in the Journal of Global Responsibility (2012) and Entrepreneurship & Regional Development (2020). Due to his time in the Software Industry, he dealt with digitalization and digital business models. A future research focus will be the Digital Transformation of the Management Control function and how digital business models can be managed successfully. Together with a colleague, he recently published a conference paper on Robotic Process Automation. Patrick Kraus likes to work empirically, primarily by means of qualitative research methods. In the course of his research projects, he works together with national and international colleagues.
