This is the result of the newest ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) published on 05 May 2020. Rector Professor Dr. Ulrich Jautz is: "The consistently high ratings over the years show that our interdisciplinary approach and our versatile practical relevance score points across the board.“
Industrial Engineering
The WI study programmes at the Faculty of Technology repeatedly achieved top results in the ranking published today. Above all, WI scores excellently within the student evaluations. In all important criteria, such as the general study situation, the support during studies, the range of courses offered and the practical relevance, industrial engineering and management is, as in previous years, rated very well by its students in the CHE ranking. According to Professor Uwe Dittmann, head of the Industrial Engineering and Management department, current interdisciplinary teaching content from the fields of technology and business and their combination, state-of-the-art teaching methods and an extraordinarily motivated team of colleagues prepare WI students excellently for practical work in companies and open up a wide range of career opportunities in the most diverse sectors thanks to the acknowledged good and broad education.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Matthias Weyer, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and his industrial engineers are also pleased about the positive result: "A top rating for the offers for work experience, the support for studying abroad, the examinations and the equipment of the library and the internship laboratories - this is a great praise from our students to the whole team and an incentive to keep up this high level". The closeness to industry and the application orientation in teaching are profile-giving characteristics of the Pforzheim Faculty of Technology: "Our lecturers come without exception from industry and are scientists with profound practical experience. We know what is in demand in industry and convey what is needed in the job. Numerous company contacts and a wealth of experience guarantee our students an education at the cutting edge," says Dean Matthias Weyer.
Management and Business Law
The bachelor’s programmes of Business School Pforzheim were ranked among the top group in the German university landscape, too. In all evaluation categories the management programmes as well as the program in business law achieved top results: curricula, good support, a broad range of courses that can be completed in the scheduled time, support by professors and lecturers, contacts to companies as well as the opportunity of spending a semester abroad.
In addition to the general key figures based on general data, the ranking includes a student survey. They awarded Pforzheim University with top marks for the general study situation. Particular praise was given to the range of courses on offer, the organisation of the study programm, the supervision and support during studies, the practical relevance and the offer of study abroad options.
"We qualify our students for current and future challenges in the business world," emphasizes Dean Professor Dr. Thomas Cleff. "The international orientation is particularly important to us. A worldwide network of partner universities, a wide range of English-language events and the international accreditation AACSB, which places us among the top five percent business schools worldwide, are rewarded by our students".
In addition to the eleven business administration bachelor's degree programs and the business law program, this year's evaluation also included the business information technology programs. They belong to the top group in Germany, especially with regard to support at the beginning of the studies and contact with professional practice.
"As a university of applied sciences, we attach great importance to an intensive, practice-oriented education of our students," says Dean of Studies Professor Dr. Robert Nothhelfer. "Our approach is based on the 'Pforzheim Model': In the business studies programmes, a profound management education combined with a specialisation in the chosen course of study, in business law the teaching of legal expertise in combination with business fundamentals – this is what makes our graduates sought-after and successful in their day-to-day work".
The results of the university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) were published on 5 May 2020 in the “ZEIT Studienführer 2020/21”.
