International workshop for material flow modeling

At the annual Umberto-workshop on computational energy and material flow modeling also the INEC team provided input. The workshop took place this week in Hamburg and was attended by about 60 experts from home and abroad.

Professor Hendrik Lambrecht introduces how to deal with uncertainty in life cycle assessments (LCA). He simulated with “Monte Carlo calculations” corresponding LCAs and highlighted how important it is to assess the relevance of uncertain quantities quickly and clearly.

Professor Nicholas Thißen explained his method of "resource engineering" in which he structures efficient and sustainable solutions in the field of environmental technology, eg of air pollution from companies. It depends not only on technical concepts of anti-pollution, but also on a holistic view, which allows you to optimize the entire system. For this purpose generalists with high professional competence in different areas of knowledge are required.
