Theory meets practice in the work force

Every year students decide whether to take on working student positions. In general, the part-time job requires a commitment of 10 to 20 hours per week during the school semester. For some students, the position offers full-working days during the winter and summer breaks. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to apply business concepts that they learned in the classroom into practice. It also allows them to gain experience in the German labor force while pursuing a master’s degree simultaneously. That said, Sonali, a 2nd year student from India states, “Managing classes and a job at the same time is the biggest challenge you’ll face. It is important to make the MBA courses a priority.”
For others, a working student position provides “valuable insights into German work culture,” and a chance to “transition into a new field." Adam, a student from Pakistan, was able to change from event management to be a part of a program management team. Sanjeev, a 2nd year student, commented, “'My job involves practical applications such as doing competitor overview and product analysis, which are helpful towards building relevant product promotion and penetration strategies. This experience enables me to get company experience to have better clarity for future job choices.”
