INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
News
Prof. Kevin Johnston from the University of Cape Town, is a teacher who is naturally compelling and intuitively sparks a zest for learning in students. Since 2014 he is coming to Pforzheim University to deliver the course of Information Management to the first - semester MBA students. Prof. Johnston brings with him immense experience in the field of Information Technology and Management, both, in the industry and in academia.
The short but intensive course was divided into two modules- Information Technology and Information Management. With his high-level of energy in the classroom, Prof. Johnston made sure that the student engagement was always high and that all the key concepts were understood by the students. Apart from theory, each module was accompanied by a case study that simulated a real environment and business challenges in the field of IT. Students were assigned different topics (already discussed theoretically) and had to deliver a short presentation with their own analysis of the situation and well-thought solutions. Instead of faculty-led lectures, the case study method encouraged class interaction and debates. The process of coming up with new ideas/solutions and defending them during presentations was enjoyed by all participants.
Also, during lectures, Prof. Johnston continuously stressed the importance of embracing change, asking questions and lifelong learning/teaching to students. These are really valuable lessons for a successful life!
